Innovations in Sustainable Agriculture: Daniel Oulai’s Impact in Côte d’Ivoire

Daniel Oulai, an Ivorian social entrepreneur, is revolutionizing sustainable agriculture in Côte d’Ivoire through his startup, Grainotech. Founded in 2017, Grainotech focuses on developing innovative solutions for local agricultural practices. Their mission includes structuring plant and animal value chains, promoting biodiversity, economic inclusion, and achieving food autonomy.
Grainotech’s ecosystem covers the entire agricultural chain, offering tools to reduce post-harvest losses and digitally assisted distribution systems. They provide training, equipment, and market facilitation to support small producers, with a goal to impact 60,000 farming families by 2030.
One of Grainotech’s key innovations is the connected solar incubator, designed to help rural farmers without electricity access reduce egg hatching losses. This technology, made from recycled materials, is open-source and easily replicable by any farmer.
Aside from his entrepreneurial endeavors, Oulai holds a master’s degree in agricultural development and has extensive experience in community development and training management. His contributions have been recognized through various prestigious awards, including the Orange Social Entrepreneur Prize and the Pierre Castel Prize.
