TalayLink Subsea Cable to Boost Thailand-Australia Connectivity and Support AI Advancements

A groundbreaking subsea cable project, aptly named TalayLink, is set to transform internet connectivity between Australia and Thailand, offering improved network stability and expanded international reach. Derived from the Thai word for “sea,” TalayLink will help establish Thailand as a critical digital hub in Southeast Asia while driving significant technological advancements across the region. This ambitious initiative includes not only the subsea cable but also two new connectivity hubs in Mandurah, Western Australia, and South Thailand, aimed at accommodating the region’s growing data and AI demands.

Enhancing Digital Infrastructure and Connectivity

The TalayLink cable is part of the broader Australia Connect initiative and strategically takes a non-conventional route through the Indian Ocean, bypassing the congested paths around the Sunda Strait. By providing an additional connection point for Thailand, the project bolsters the country’s resilience and supports future data centers and cloud infrastructure. Meanwhile, the South Thailand hub is being streamlined through a collaboration with AIS, a colocation provider that already has existing infrastructure in place. Together, these hubs will enable efficient content caching, cable switching, and colocation services, ensuring smooth delivery of digital and AI-powered solutions across the region.
