According to Developing Telecoms, Malaysian mobile operator U Mobile has taken a bold step by enabling comprehensive scam protection across its entire network. This initiative, executed in partnership with security provider Cellusys, has already blocked an incredible 265 million scam calls and fraudulent SMS attempts since its launch in February 2025.

Recent data from the Global Anti-Scam Alliance underscores the severity of the issue, showing that 73% of Malaysians report experiencing scam calls or fraudulent SMS. The operator’s CTO, Woon Ooi Yuen, emphasized the strategic importance of these security upgrades. “We will continue to improve our network through technology to better protect customers across voice, messaging, and data services,” Yuen stated.
