NTT Global Data Centres (NTT GDC), the world’s third-largest data centre provider, has signed a 100MW power purchase agreement with Thai energy company B.Grimm Power to support its upcoming Bangkok 4 Data Centre, according to Developing Telecoms. The new facility, located at NTT’s Chonburi campus, is scheduled for energisation in Q2 2027, marking another significant milestone in Thailand’s growing prominence as a hub for data centre development.

This latest agreement builds on a long-standing partnership between NTT GDC and B.Grimm Power. The energy company has previously supplied capacity for NTT’s Bangkok 2 and 3 Data Centres, both located at the Amata City Chonburi industrial estate, which is fast becoming a focal point for data centre investments in the region.

The Bangkok 2 facility, launched in 2015, offers 3.6MW of capacity across 3,800 square metres. Meanwhile, Bangkok 3 spans 4,000 square metres and boasts a capacity of 12MW. The upcoming Bangkok 4 Data Centre further highlights Chonburi’s role as a strategic anchor for NTT’s Thailand operations.

NTT’s emphasis on Thailand as a strategic APAC hub reflects the region’s booming digital economy and robust energy readiness. The Bangkok metropolitan area is increasingly being targeted by industry heavyweights, thanks to strong infrastructure, favorable policy frameworks, and increasing demand for cloud services and digital transformation among enterprises in Southeast Asia.

B.Grimm Power, one of Thailand’s leading industrial energy producers, has played a crucial role in powering this expansion. According to the company, it currently has a total generating capacity of 4,178MW across 15 countries and is targeting 10,000MW by 2030. Its recent investments in renewable and industrial energy further signal its ambitions to deepen its footprint in the data centre power market.

This deal underscores the growing importance of long-term energy planning in the data centre industry, particularly as sustainability and energy security top priority lists for global operators. Analysts see this development as part of a larger trend where leading providers like NTT increasingly strike localised energy partnerships to secure reliable power sources, improve sustainability, and manage operational costs at scale.

NTT’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Thailand could intensify competition within the APAC data centre market, challenging other regional players like Singtel, Digital Edge, and ST Telemedia. Meanwhile, B.Grimm’s track record of collaboration positions it as a key enabler for Thailand’s broader digital transformation goals.

As Thailand solidifies its status as a data centre hub, will more international operators follow NTT’s lead and invest in long-term power partnerships in the region? Only time will tell.
