African Leaders Call for Accelerated Nuclear Energy Adoption to Meet Rising Energy Demand

Addis Ababa – Participants of African delegates at the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2025) in Kigali stressed the importance of nuclear energy adoption to address the continent’s increasing energy demand and support sustainable development. With the African population expected to surpass 3 billion in the next four decades, leaders emphasize the need for clean, reliable, and scalable energy solutions, including nuclear power. Rwandan Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente highlighted the role of renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources in driving development while preserving the ecosystem. He urged African nations to leverage nuclear technology to enhance energy accessibility and combat climate issues. The summit, running through Tuesday, seeks to position nuclear energy as a foundational element of Africa’s sustainable growth.
