Bahrain Space Agency Chair to Lead Arab Space Committee

Rasha Al Amad, Chief of Strategic Planning at the Bahrain Space Agency, has been appointed as the chair of the Committee that includes delegates from eight Arab space agencies.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has been selected to lead the Committee responsible for creating the Arab Space Strategic Plan, after a decision was reached at the 11th meeting of the Arab Space Cooperation Group in Egypt. This decision underscores Bahrain’s growing leadership in the regional space industry and its expertise in strategic planning and global collaboration.
Rasha Al Amad, Chief of Strategic Planning at the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), will head the Committee, which consists of representatives from eight Arab space agencies. She will oversee the development, execution, and evaluation of a united strategy aimed at coordinating regional initiatives and enhancing the Arab world’s standing in the global space arena.
The primary goal of the Committee is to promote increased cooperation among Arab nations, ensuring a unified and competitive regional presence in space science and technology. This initiative, as reported by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), is in line with broader endeavors to enhance the Arab region’s competence in space innovation, capacity-building, and scientific advancement.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, praised the appointment as a recognition of BSA’s regional leadership and proficiency. He stressed the significance of collaboration among Arab space agencies to outline a strategic roadmap that mirrors shared aspirations and responds to evolving global patterns. This joint plan will be shaped through consultations with member states and will concentrate on long-term sustainability and innovation within the space sector.
Rasha Al Amad expressed her gratitude for leading the committee and highlighted the necessity for organized planning and strong collaboration among member countries. Once the strategy is approved, the Committee will supervise its implementation, monitor performance using defined metrics, evaluate progress, and issue regular reports to ensure continual enhancement and flexibility to changing regional and international circumstances.
