At the 2025 US-Africa Business Summit in Luanda, Angola, The Coca-Cola Company unveiled the results of a comprehensive socio-economic impact analysis spanning Africa. In an interview with Luisa Ortega, President of The Coca-Cola Company’s Africa Operating Unit, she shares insights from this pivotal study and discusses the company’s enduring commitment to Africa’s economic progress.
Ms. Ortega expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present the study’s findings at the summit, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between African nations and the US. In partnership with Steward Redqueen, a global consultancy, The Coca-Cola system conducted a detailed analysis in 2024 to assess its impact on various sectors and regions. The study revealed the system’s contributions to production, income generation, and employment across industries, showcasing its vital role in national and regional development.
In 2024, the Coca-Cola system supported over 1 million jobs in sectors like retail, agriculture, and manufacturing, creating a substantial economic ripple effect. With significant investments in local sourcing and procurement, the system injected $10.4 billion into Africa’s economy, underlining its commitment to building local economies and fostering shared value.
Building on the study results, The Coca-Cola system reaffirmed its dedication to Africa through strategic investments and initiatives. In addition to announcing substantial investments across the continent, the system pledged $25 million by 2030 to address water-related challenges in local communities, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
