Daniel Oulai, an Ivorian social entrepreneur, is making waves in sustainable agriculture and agroecology in Côte d’Ivoire. Born in Liberia and raised in Côte d’Ivoire, Daniel is the founder of Grainotech, an agri-tech company based in Abidjan.

Launched in 2017, Grainotech focuses on transforming local agricultural practices through innovation and digital technologies. The company’s mission is to structure plant and animal value chains sustainably while integrating biodiversity, economic inclusion, and food autonomy.

Grainotech’s ecosystem covers the entire agricultural chain, from animal reproduction to feed production. They provide tools to reduce post-harvest losses and digitally assist distribution systems. The company supports small producers by training them, providing equipment, and helping them access markets. Grainotech aims to reach 60,000 farming families by 2030.

One of the key innovations by Grainotech is the connected solar incubator, designed to help rural farmers without electricity access reduce egg hatching losses. This open-source technology, made from recycled materials, is easily replicable by any farmer.

Daniel Oulai, with a master’s degree in agricultural development from AgroParisTech, has a rich background. He started his career in community development in Côte d’Ivoire and later worked with international organizations. His efforts have been recognized with prestigious awards for his impactful agricultural projects.
