Digital Edge to Invest $4.5B in Hyperscale AI-Ready Data Centre Campus in Indonesia
Digital Edge is making a $4.5 billion bet on Indonesia’s digital future with the development of the CGK Campus, a state-of-the-art AI-ready hyperscale data centre campus, according to Developing Telecoms. Located in the GIIC Industrial Estate in West Java, just east of Jakarta, the campus promises to deliver up to 500 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity at launch, with scalability to an unprecedented 1,000 MW (1GW).
Massive Scale for Indonesia’s Growing Digital Economy
Designed to support the explosive growth of Indonesia’s digital economy, the CGK Campus is set to become one of the largest facilities of its kind in Southeast Asia. Its IT capacity, powered by carrier-neutral infrastructure, scalable design, and advanced technologies, establishes a new benchmark for hyperscale and AI-ready capabilities in the region. The first three buildings are slated to go live between Q4 2026 and Q2 2027.
Digital Edge is emphasizing sustainability, with the campus engineered to handle next-generation AI workloads while maintaining an annualised power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 — a key metric of energy efficiency. The site will also integrate renewable energy, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, and recycled water systems, ensuring it aligns with global green standards.

Industry analysts see this project as Digital Edge’s largest commitment yet and a clear signal of Indonesia’s increasing significance as a digital hub. The CGK Campus will serve as the anchor for the country’s expanding ecosystem, offering low-latency connectivity to Jakarta’s core business districts, thanks to its strategic location less than 15 kilometers from other major data centre clusters.
The project’s network assets are supported by Indonet, Digital Edge’s fully owned Indonesian telecom subsidiary, which is delivering 100% underground fibre routes to the campus for heightened reliability. Digital Edge CEO Andy Rigoli highlighted this integration as a game-changer, combining robust infrastructure with industry-leading monitoring systems.
