The Government of Kenya, in collaboration with the World Bank, is spearheading the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project to enhance digital connectivity along the Isiolo–Mandera corridor. The project includes plans to lay a high-capacity fibre optic cable to link Kenya’s northern regions and establish cross-border connections with Ethiopia and Somalia. Through the Early Market Engagement process, stakeholders are encouraged to provide insights for upcoming procurement opportunities. In addition to digital infrastructure, the project involves upgrading the Isiolo-Mandera Regional Road Corridor for improved trade facilitation. Kenya and Ethiopia’s commitment to digital services and infrastructure development highlights the socio-economic benefits anticipated from this initiative. The project aims to enhance regional mobility and foster economic resilience in the Horn of Africa.
