Du and Partners Launch Arabic Telecom Large Language Model

Du, the telecom and digital services provider, has collaborated with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University, and ITU to introduce an innovative Arabic Telecom Large Language Model (LLM). This revolutionary partnership focuses on enhancing du’s internal operations through efficient AI-driven processes.
The Arabic Telecom LLM aims to optimize telecom functions in Arabic, creating a model tailored for enhancing internal efficiency specific to du’s operational processes and advancing the UAE’s AI vision. It is the industry’s first AI model co-created by global tech leaders, regional research experts, and international policy influencers.
One of the key features of this collaborative effort is the introduction of an Arabic-language telecom assistant to support du’s internal teams. This assistant enables real-time customer complaint handling, device issue resolution, and provides valuable operational insights through culturally fluent dialogues that are contextual and precise.
Saleem AlBlooshi, du’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the commitment to improving internal efficiency and customer experiences through culturally sensitive solutions. The partnership envisions a future where AI plays a crucial role in operational transformations, delivering impactful customer experiences.
The UAE-developed du Arabic Telecom LLM adheres to regional language and cultural standards, ensuring accurate applications for internal telecom functions within the national critical infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the collaboration sets the stage for expanding the model’s functions to customer-facing applications and multilingual support, fostering sector-wide innovation. Du and its partners are determined to establish the Arabic Telecom LLM as a leading example of responsible AI implementation in the telecom sector and beyond.
