If you are an EE customer, get ready for the milestone coverage as the mobile operator launches its advanced 5G standalone network. This summer, the network aims to cover over 34 million people across the UK.

By the end of the summer holidays, EE anticipates that more than half of the UK population will have access to its cutting-edge 5G network. This significant expansion positions EE as the largest network of its kind in the UK within a year.

EE’s primary focus has been enhancing signal strength in bustling cities, popular tourist destinations, and major venues, including stadiums filled with enthusiastic fans. With plans for continued growth, EE targets reaching a staggering 41 million individuals with an authentic 5G signal by spring 2026.

Residents of locations like Carlisle, Chesterfield, Stoke-on-Trent, and York have already witnessed improvements in connectivity. Over the next month, 38 additional locations will be added to the network, encompassing prominent hubs like Aberdeen, Derby, and Norwich, as well as smaller towns like Canterbury, Great Malvern, Salisbury, and Windsor.

Aside from increased speed for browsing, EE has introduced Voice over 5G concurrent with the rollout of its 5G standalone network. This feature ensures quicker call connections, reduced dialing delays, and enhanced reliability.

5G standalone represents a significant advancement as it is a newly built system from scratch. This innovation allows 5G to deliver seamless streaming, faster uploads, and an enriched experience for activities like gaming and video calls, even enhancing performance indoors.

Imagine being in a crowded concert or a busy train station where your internet typically struggles – 5G standalone is engineered to handle such pressure, offering up to 100 times the capacity of 4G, ensuring consistent and fast connectivity even amidst large crowds.

The positive impact of this new infrastructure extends beyond personal gadgets, poised to provide a substantial boost to the UK economy, potentially generating £230 billion in productivity and creating new possibilities.

Greg McCall, Chief Networks Officer at BT Group, emphasized the importance of providing a superior mobile experience to millions of users daily. This commitment has driven BT to construct the UK’s most reliable network and expand the availability of 5G standalone technology across the nation.

With a growing number of devices now compatible with 5G standalone, including recent models from major brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google, achieving connectivity is more attainable. EE is streamlining access to 5G standalone by making it the standard for new plan sign-ups or phone upgrades.
