Atlas Space Operations has recently activated its latest ground station in Mwulire, Rwanda, expanding its global ground network. This activation significantly boosts the capabilities of the COSMIC-2 satellite mission, supporting NOAA in monitoring global weather and space conditions. The Rwandan antenna collects data from six COSMIC-2 satellites, delivering critical real-time atmospheric and ionospheric data for accurate forecasting. With Rwanda’s strategic location enhancing satellite contact, the new station in Mwulire strengthens Atlas’s network resilience. The partnership with Rwanda Space Agency underscores their commitment to delivering essential COSMIC-2 data swiftly for NOAA’s monitoring needs. Corey Geer, CEO of Atlas Space Operations, highlights the partnership’s strength and the network’s growth, ensuring timely and accurate atmospheric and ionospheric monitoring. Atlas’s track record includes managing 156,653 NOAA satellite contacts from July 2019 to May 31, 2025, with a remarkable ground station availability rate of 99.36%.
