Enhancing Global Maritime Connectivity with Eutelsat and OneWeb Partnership

Building upon a strong GEO partnership, Station Satcom is set to integrate Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO services to bolster its global maritime solutions.
The collaboration between Eutelsat and long-time collaborator Station Satcom, a prominent India-based maritime communications provider, has led to a fresh deal that will introduce OneWeb’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity to the international maritime industry.
This partnership represents a significant strategic advancement for Station Satcom, enabling the delivery of a hybrid satellite system merging the extensive coverage of Eutelsat’s GEO services with the high-speed and low-latency features of OneWeb’s LEO network.
This unified service will ensure seamless and robust connectivity for ships traversing critical shipping routes and working in remote offshore areas. By capitalizing on the combined capabilities of GEO and LEO technologies, Station Satcom is addressing the growing need for instantaneous data transfer, advancing operational efficiency, and enhancing crew welfare aboard vessels—essential elements in the larger-scale digitalization of maritime activities globally.
Thierry Polycarpe, Vice President of Global Maritime at Eutelsat, expressed, ‘We are delighted to expand our enduring partnership with Station Satcom through the introduction of OneWeb’s LEO marine service. This agreement mirrors the increasing appetite for top-notch connectivity in maritime settings and underscores our dedication to providing reliable, high-speed, low-latency solutions fueling the digital progress of the maritime sector.’
Anshul Khanna, Chief Executive Officer of Station Satcom, remarked, ‘This development is revolutionary for the broader maritime domain. By integrating OneWeb’s LEO satellite service, we are now equipped to deliver seamless connectivity for ship proprietors, crew welfare, and offshore activities.’
