Three senior executives in Intel’s manufacturing operations are set to retire as new CEO Lip-Bu Tan brings sweeping changes to resuscitate the struggling U.S. chipmaker.

Intel announced that corporate vice presidents Kaizad Mistry, Ryan Russell, and Gary Patton, a former IBM executive, are among those retiring.

The chipmaker is planning to restructure its technology development group responsible for creating manufacturing processes, with reductions in the manufacturing capacity planning team and engineering team.

Under former Micron Technology executive Naga Chandrasekaran’s leadership, Intel has been undergoing organizational changes and layoffs as part of global cutbacks.

CEO Tan aims to reduce Intel’s workforce by 22% by the end of the year and take a more disciplined approach to manufacturing investment.

Intel’s future 14A manufacturing process relies on securing new customers, with a focus on customer commitments for development.

Tan prioritizes the 14A technology over the 18A process for external customers, aiming to focus resources on high-volume manufacturing of Panther Lake PC chips using the 18A process.
