MLL Enhances Digital Infrastructure for the New Codi Group in Wales

MLL’s Network Services Contract Supports Codi Group’s Digital Unification

MLL has secured a significant network services contract aimed at supporting the ‘Network Alignment’ program, which comes in light of Pobl Group’s recent merger with Linc Cymru. This merger leads to the formation of Codi Group, the largest housing association in Wales, scheduled for rebranding in January 2026. The newly consolidated organization will oversee over 24,000 homes in Wales and has ambitions to expand by delivering an additional 4,500 new homes within the next five years. With more than 3,000 employees, the group plays a vital role in contributing to the Welsh economy.

As part of the rebranding effort, MLL will manage the transition of approximately 200 Pobl and Linc Cymru MPLS legacy sites onto a unified, secure state-of-the-art SD-WAN network. This advanced network will feature a Zero-trust architecture that includes managed real-time threat detection and response, as well as integration with Azure Public Cloud, facilitating seamless collaboration across the organization.

The project is projected to yield savings exceeding £500,000 over a three-year span, thanks to streamlined procurement practices and infrastructure consolidation. Peter Murphy, Head of Technology Operations at Pobl Group, commented, “This initiative goes beyond technology; it is about establishing a secure, scalable, and future-ready digital foundation for over 200 sites across Wales. By combining two legacy MPLS networks into a single SD-WAN managed service, we promote seamless collaboration, enhance cyber resilience, and improve service delivery for our teams and tenants alike.”

He further noted, “This undertaking reflects a true cross-functional effort, where procurement, technology, operations, and our partners collaborated to ensure continuity, compliance, and innovative solutions delivered securely within a rigorous six-month timeframe, aiming for a Year One ROI.”

Gail Harvey, MLL’s Business Development Director, stated, “We are thrilled to have won this major UK housing association contract, especially amid a competitive tender process that prioritized quality over cost. Pobl selected us due to our leading-edge technology, engineering prowess, support services, and customer service excellence. In both the immediate and long term, we are eager to transition and manage the SD-WAN network of Pobl and later Codi Group, while continuously seeking further opportunities for innovation and value enhancement. We also look forward to supporting the Welsh community through the Pobl Trust, a registered charity committed to improving quality of life and creating opportunities for individuals and communities in areas served by Pobl Group.”
