Nokia has recently announced a groundbreaking partnership with Malaysian Internet Service Provider (ISP) Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary Open DC. This collaboration aims to modernize Open DC’s AI data centres to enhance their security, scalability, and performance. With digital transformation and AI adoption growing rapidly in Malaysia, this initiative is expected to position Open DC as a leading connectivity hub for enterprises.

Under the agreement, Nokia’s cutting-edge IP networking solutions will interconnect six AI data centres managed by Open DC, located strategically across Malaysia. These facilities include CJ1 Cyberjaya, JB1 Menara MSC Cyberport, JB2 Menara Ansar at Johor Bahru, PE1 Menara Suntech, PE2 Bayan Lepas Industrial Park at Penang, and the soon-to-launch D8-1 in Kedah. The upgrade will focus on deploying Nokia’s Data Centre Fabric, Data Centre Gateway, and quantum-safe network (QSN) technologies. These solutions are designed to address the evolving demands of enterprises while ensuring robust network security and seamless connectivity.

Moreover, energy efficiency is a key priority in this upgrade. Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Router and 7220 Interconnect Routers will be utilized to create a more reliable and environmentally sustainable network infrastructure. This aligns with the global push for greener tech solutions, showcasing both companies’ commitment to long-term sustainability.

As part of the agreement, Nokia and EBB have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore advanced go-to-market strategies. This initiative includes offering enterprise connectivity solutions, quantum-safe networking, and value-added services like DDoS security, multi-cloud connectivity, and mitigation services to data centre tenants. These enhancements aim to foster AI-driven innovations and deliver unparalleled business advantages to enterprises operating in Malaysia’s growing digital economy.

Open DC’s managing director, Wong Weng Yew, emphasized the significance of this partnership by stating, “Nokia’s solutions will enhance our security, scalability, and sustainability, enabling us to build connectivity hubs that support AI-driven innovation and create new revenue opportunities for enterprises.” The collaboration positions Open DC to transform its data centres into leading hubs for enterprise connectivity, particularly in AI-driven industries.
