Private 5G Network Deployed by T-Mobile and Ericsson for Czech Manufacturer Tawesco
T-Mobile and Ericsson have deployed a private 5G network for Czech manufacturer Tawesco in the 3.4-3.8 GHz band to support Industry 4.0 applications. Plans are in place to expand the project across the entire plant and to sister companies under the Promet Group.
At the main plant in Kopřivnice, covering approximately 5,000 square meters, a new 5G setup acts as a live ‘proof-of-concept’. Tawesco has already connected multiple devices to the network, including mobile devices, production machines, and material handling equipment.
The deployment uses spectrum provided by T-Mobile in the 3400-3800 MHz band. Regulatory changes in 2020 allowed local operators to offer their spectrum for private 5G networks.
Other organizations in Czechia, such as the Czech Technical University in Prague and Škoda Auto, have also launched private 5G networks, highlighting a trend towards standalone 5G networks in the country.
Tawesco, with manufacturing sites in multiple regions, produces engineering parts for various industries. The Promet Group, its parent company, intends to expand this 5G project across its operations, emphasizing the significance of the technical venture for its suppliers.
