The e-commerce landscape in Kenya is witnessing transformation with the advent of Flowcart, a digital solution offering seamless sales processes through WhatsApp.

Developed by a young Kenyan startup originally known as Sukhiba and founded in 2021 by Ananth Raj Gudipati and Abhinav Reddy, Flowcart secured $1.55 million investment in 2024 to facilitate its expansion continent-wide.

Flowcart’s success is attributed to its unique automation technology combined with messaging data analysis, enabling tailored services at scale. The platform streamlines product catalogs, payments, orders, and customer engagements in an intuitive interface.

Co-founder Ananth Gudipati emphasized, ‘We set out with Sukhiba to revolutionize commerce on WhatsApp. Our growth revealed the necessity for advanced automation, smooth customer experiences, and tools that convert conversations into transactions. Flowcart embodies this vision – refined, powerful, and designed for the future of commerce conversations.’

This user-friendly solution empowers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and informal sellers to engage in online commerce seamlessly, bridging the gap between conventional platforms and real-world sales practices in Africa. By harnessing WhatsApp extensively, the startup mirrors the surge of conversational e-commerce trends on the continent, promising to redefine digital trade in emerging markets.
