Shoprite Group Announces Cash Back Partnership with Absa

Six months after concluding a deal with the First National Bank rewards programme eBucks, Shoprite Group has unveiled a new collaboration with Absa.
Shoprite, the parent company of Checkers and the widely used Sixty60 on-demand grocery delivery service, revealed on Wednesday that the partnership with Absa will provide customers with cash back rewards of up to 60% during an initial two-month period.
This alliance with Absa follows similar agreements that Shoprite made with Discovery in August 2024 and Standard Bank in April 2025.
Absa Rewards members can now receive cash back benefits when making purchases at Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, LiquorShop, or online through Sixty60, as stated by both companies in an official announcement.
“Qualified expenditures made with eligible Absa debit or credit cards will earn customers up to 60% cash back during the two-month promotional launch period (16 August to 15 October 2025), followed by up to 30% cash back thereafter based on the customer’s rewards tier. The cashback is automatically credited, paid out monthly, and can be used, saved, or reinvested based on the customer’s preferences,” they revealed.
Shoprite and Checkers are noted as the highest-spending category among Absa’s clientele, the bank confirmed.
Rewards Millionaire
“The program fosters ongoing engagement by rewarding everyday spending patterns, thereby enhancing Absa’s reputation as a bank that meets customers at their point of need,” they added.
Since its inception, Absa Rewards has disbursed more than R6.6 billion to its members, with one individual achieving millionaire status in rewards. “Customers are using their rewards for school supplies, snacks, fuel, and airtime, while others are saving for significant life milestones or assisting family members during challenging periods,” as per © 2025 NewsCentral Media.
