Space42 Partners with Angola’s SISM to Boost Satellites and AI Technologies

Space42 Announces Strategic Partnership with Angola’s SISM
In a groundbreaking development, UAE-based satellite operator Space42 has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM). The agreement, set to span the next five years, focuses on fostering innovation and technological advancements across various priority sectors, aiming to solidify Angola’s infrastructure and national security capabilities through cutting-edge satellite and AI solutions.
The partnership will concentrate on seven key areas: satellite communications, earth observation, artificial intelligence (AI), high-altitude platforms (HAPS), national security drones, border control solutions, and developing advanced command and control centers. Space42, already an active player in Angola through its YahClick satellite broadband services, is enhancing its operational reach and service portfolio to support these critical areas. This effort is further bolstered by the latest upgrades from Space42’s Thuraya 4 satellite, which entered orbit earlier this year, aiming to provide even greater connectivity and technological support within Angola.
Strengthening Angola-UAE Technology Collaboration
The MoU is a direct product of recent high-level engagements between Angola and UAE leaders. General João Pereira Massano, head of Angola’s SISM, and Space42’s executive leadership team met in the UAE to discuss the framework for collaboration. These discussions included live demonstrations and presentations of Space42’s space-based intelligence systems and AI-driven tools, showcasing the company’s advanced capabilities in addressing national security and development challenges.
The timing of the agreement aligns with a state visit to Angola by UAE president Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was invited by Angolan president João Lourenço. The visit underscores the deepening diplomatic, economic, and technological cooperation between the two nations. Space42’s chief commercial officer, Sulaiman Al Ali, emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting how it reflects years of dedicated service to Angola via satellite connectivity and forms a natural progression to further enhancing the country’s tech-driven infrastructure.
Revolutionizing Angola’s Technological Landscape
With 100% satellite coverage in Angola and plans to roll out expanded services, Space42 positions itself as a key enabler of Angola’s ambition to modernize its national security and technology landscape. By integrating satellite communications, high-altitude platforms, AI technologies, and advanced border control systems, the partnership aims to address critical challenges such as connectivity gaps and national security threats. This collaboration not only enhances Angola’s defense capabilities but also paves the way for economic and technological progress.
The joint effort between Space42 and SISM signifies more than just an MoU; it is a mutual commitment to fostering sustainable technological innovation that benefits both nations. As the world increasingly relies on space-powered advancements, this partnership showcases a forward-thinking approach to solving national challenges with global implications.
