T-Mobile and Ericsson have successfully launched a private 5G SA network for Tawesco, a Czech manufacturer, to boost Industry 4.0 applications. The 5G network in the 3.4-3.8 GHz band covers their main plant in Kopřivnice and is set to expand. Tawesco has already connected numerous devices to the network, ranging from production machines to AGVs, showcasing their commitment to a ‘smart factory’ concept.

The deployment, utilizing spectrum from T-Mobile, aligns with the 2020 ruling by the Czech government allowing enterprises to deploy private 5G networks within the 3.4-3.8 GHz range. Other notable private 5G networks in the region include those at the Czech Technical University, Škoda Auto, and the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant.

Tawesco, a key player in manufacturing, aims to extend the use of 5G technology to enhance their operations across multiple sites. Additionally, Promet Group, Tawesco’s parent company, foresees substantial growth and efficiency benefits from the network expansion.

Industry experts emphasize the significance of this project, stating that it sets a new standard for Czech industrial companies. The integration of AI-driven real-time control systems will pave the way for fully autonomous machinery operations.

Radim Matera, from the Promet Group, highlights the transformative nature of the 5G network, equating it to a nervous system that enables seamless coordination among components. This innovative approach towards industrial production signifies a shift towards more competitive and sustainable practices in the Czech industry. Luboš Lukasík of T-Mobile lauds the project’s emphasis on rapid response times and heightened security measures, showcasing the integration of modern technology within Czech industrial settings.
