T-Mobile and Ericsson Deploy Private 5G Network for Industry 4.0 Applications

T-Mobile and Ericsson have implemented a private 5G network for Czech manufacturer Tawesco in the 3.4-3.8 GHz band to support Industry 4.0 applications. The project spans the main plant and sister companies of the Promet Group.

Main Plant Deployment

The private 5G setup at Tawesco’s main plant in Kopřivnice covers 5,000 square meters and is categorized as a live ‘proof-of-concept’. Plans include expanding the network to encompass the entire plant and sister companies in the near future.

Network Expansion and Device Connectivity

Several devices have already been connected to the private 5G network, including mobile devices, production machines, and material handling equipment. AGVs are also scheduled to be integrated into the network, enhancing the Industry 4.0 setup.

Regulatory Overview

The deployment operates within the 3400-3800 MHz band with permission obtained from T-Mobile. Local regulations have facilitated the availability of spectrum for the deployment of private 5G networks by enterprises.

Tawesco manages multiple manufacturing sites across different regions, producing engineering components for various industries. Promet Group, with a considerable workforce, aims to expand the 5G project across its companies, emphasizing technological advancement in industry operations.
